About

Sherry Cohen

Sherry Cohen is a Grief Recovery Specialist. She received her Certificate of Specialization from the Grief Recovery Institute of Sherman Oaks, California.

Sherry attended Queens College and Tel Aviv University. As a child of Holocaust survivors, Sherry has a tremendous sense of commitment, faith and dedication. Her parents raised her to understand that everything in life has both a positive and a negative aspect, but throughout life’s challenges one should always maintain hope and conviction.

Sherry has benefited from a successful business career which ultimately led her to work alongside her husband in a manufacturing business for over 18 years.

She was brought up in a small tight knit family. Over the years, Sherry has been tested with the challenges of significant loss. Her most significant and life changing test, was the sudden unexpected loss of her husband.

“I tried to find some relief from the pain and grief I felt. I joined a bereavement group. Although I had met people who were in a similar situation, all we were really doing was talking about feelings, with no solution or recovery. It was short term relief at best.”

“It was then by chance I heard of the Grief Recovery Program. I discovered that my feelings were in fact quite natural and normal . I realized that recovery can be achieved for the griever by completing a series of small and correct choices. By taking these actions I was able to diminish the pain and begin a new chapter in my life. The memories were no longer accompanied by pain. Some were associated with joy, some with sadness, but not pain. It is my passion and goal to take the knowledge I have gained in my own grief recovery and help others who feel a sense of overwhelming pain and grief resulting from a significant loss to a point of experiencing LIFE AFTER LOSS.”
